India kicked off their Hong Kong Sixes 2025 campaign with a thrilling 2-run victory over Pakistan in a rain-affected match decided by the DLS method.
The much-awaited India-Pakistan clash lived up to expectations, as India edged past their arch-rivals in a close encounter that had fans glued to the action till the very end.
Uthappa, Chipli Power India’s Innings
After Pakistan chose to bowl first, India put up 86 for 4 in 6 overs. Robin Uthappa, the CSK star, played a quick 28-run knock, while Bharat Chipli added 24.
Captain Dinesh Karthik stayed unbeaten on 17, guiding India to a strong total. For Pakistan, Mohammad Shehzad impressed with figures of 2 for 15 in his over.
Pakistan’s Fight Cut Short by Rain
In response, Pakistan had a shaky start, losing an early wicket in the second over. Khawaja Nafe and Abdus Samad tried to rebuild the innings, adding vital runs to keep Pakistan in the game. By the third over, they were 41 for 1 when rain disrupted play.
As the downpour continued, officials applied the DLS method, and India were found 2 runs ahead, sealing the win. Stuart Binny stood out with the ball, conceding just 4 runs and taking 1 wicket in his over.
