The ongoing season of IPL has reached the hallway stage and one of the main topics of discussion is the disaster umpiring that we are seeing this season. There are many marginal calls that are leaving the viewers shocked about the decision-making of the third umpire.
In the earlier games, the wide calls against Mumbai’s Tim David and CSK’s MS Dhoni led to a huge discussion as the ball appeared to be passing beneath the bat but was given as a wide.
Last night, another shocking umpiring decision led to a huge spur after it costed the wicket of Virat Kohli.
Incidentally, in the first innings, KKR’s Russel faced a similar beamer and it was given as a no ball and a free hit was awarded. In the second innings, Virat Kohli faced a similarly high full-toss beamer, but in this case, it was given as a legal delivery as the umpire said he felt the ball was dipping enough to be called a good ball.
The shocking errors in judgment and the variable adjudications to similar situations in the ongoing season are leading to multiple discussions all over.
