Lokesh Kanagaraj Aamir Khan Irumbu Kai Mayavi

Aamir Khan has officially confirmed his collaboration with Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj for a big-budget superhero film.

The project is expected to begin shooting in the second half of 2026, following Lokesh’s upcoming film Kaithi 2.

This announcement has generated significant excitement as both talents are known for their unique storytelling and box office success.

Industry insiders speculate that this superhero film could be the much-anticipated Irumbu Kai Mayavi, a project initially offered to Suriya.

Along with the superhero film announcement, Aamir Khan also shared updates on his other major projects. His film Sitaare Zameen Par will have an exclusive theatrical release, with no plans for YouTube or pay-per-view OTT streaming.

Another highly awaited project is the biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, India’s legendary filmmaker. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film is set to begin production this year.

With Rajkumar Hirani’s last film Dunki turning out to be a disappointment, expectations are not very high for this film to become a landmark in Indian cinema.

On the other hand, Aamir also clarified that his rumored Mahabharata project is currently unlikely to move forward. It will take time. Fans hoping for a grand retelling of the epic will have to wait, as other priorities take precedence.

Tamil fans are angry that their own director, Lokesh Kanagaraj, ditched Suriya for a Bollywood star like Aamir Khan—who isn’t even a big star right now.

His films have been failing for the past nine years, delivering disasters like Thugs of Hindostan and Laal Singh Chaddha.
