Despite being a medium-budget movie, Tourist Family had a decent opening in Tamil Nadu, fueled by strong early reports. Retro, on the other hand, had a solid opening in Tamil Nadu, owing to the large fan base of Suriya and Karthik Subbaraj.
However, after Day 1, Tourist Family slowly overtook Retro’s collections. On the BookMyShow (BMS) ticket booking platform yesterday, 83.68K tickets were booked for Tourist Family, while 85.9K tickets were sold for Retro.

On BMS, Tourist Family is trending with 4.3K tickets being booked per hour, whereas only 2.34K tickets are being booked for Retro.

Following this trend, some netizens on social media commented that this clearly demonstrates Suriya’s downfall, as even medium-budget movies are surpassing Suriya’s films in box office collections.
However, it remains to be seen how both Tourist Family and Retro will perform at the box office in the following days and whether Tourist Family will conclude its theatrical run with higher collections than Retro in Tamil Nadu.
