Dhanush’s fourth directorial film, Idly Kadai, in which he also plays the lead, is currently in the post-production stage. Now, the Idly Kadai team has officially announced that the movie will be released on October 1.
Initially, Idly Kadai was slated for an April 10 release, but according to reports, some portions of the movie remain to be shot, prompting the team to postpone the release date to October 1.
Additionally, Dhanush is currently busy shooting Tere Ishq Mein, directed by Aanand L. Rai, which marks his fourth Bollywood film. Due to this commitment, he seems to have delayed completing the pending work on Idly Kadai.
Apart from Idly Kadai, Dhanush’s pan-Indian film Kuberaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula, is set for a June 20 release, while his Bollywood film Tere Ishq Mein is scheduled for November 28.
This means three Dhanush films will be released back-to-back in a short span this year. However, some Dhanush fans are still disappointed with Idly Kadai’s postponement, as they had expected it to release in August. The team has now pushed it further than anticipated.
Dhanush’s last directorial venture, Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam (NEEK), featuring fresh talent, failed to meet expectations and ended up as a huge box office flop.
It remains to be seen whether NEEK’s failure will negatively impact Idly Kadai’s opening and whether Dhanush can prove his worth as a director when the film releases on October 1.
