Following the back to back failures of Madharaasi and Parasakthi, actor Sivakarthikeyan is currently starring as the lead in Seyon directed by Sivakumar Murugesan and produced by Kamal Haasan’s RKFI.
Since its announcement, this film has carried huge expectations among audiences and many people believe that it will emerge as a massive blockbuster, helping Sivakarthikeyan make a strong comeback as he returns to his strong rural commercial genre with this film.
However, over the last few weeks, there has been a lot of negativity surrounding the film. Initially, Seyon was scheduled for a theatrical release this October, but due to delays in filming, it was postponed to Pongal.
Now, it seems like Seyon might not even release for Pongal, as recent speculations suggest that 40% of the film still remains to be shot and it may only hit screens in Summer 2027.
Furthermore, there is speculation that after the massive success of Karuppu, Sivakarthikeyan personally worked on script changes alongside the director, shaping the film to be quite similar to Karuppu.
In this scenario, some Kollywood insiders on social media are spreading rumors that Seyon appears weak compared to Suriya’s Karuppu. It is also being said that producer Kamal Haasan is hesitant to make risky decisions such as extending the OTT window from 4 weeks to 8 weeks and is also not interested in investing further in the project.
In response to these negativities, many Sivakarthikeyan fans are in confusion about whether Seyon is genuinely facing issues or if these rumors are being circulated by rival fanbases to affect Seyon’s box office collections.
Despite the negativities surrounding the film, fans remain hopeful that Seyon will shape up to be a solid entertainer and emerge as a massive blockbuster.
Ultimately, all these are just social media discussions and there is still no official confirmation on any of these claims. It remains to be seen whether Seyon will overcome this negativity to emerge as a blockbuster success and help Sivakarthikeyan make a massive comeback upon its release.
