The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has officially announced that if Kamal Haasan does not apologize, Thug Life will not be released in Karnataka.

After hearing the appeal, the Karnataka High Court criticized Kamal Haasan for his arrogant behavior and questioned whether he was a historian or a language specialist, and on what basis he claimed that Kannada originated from Tamil. The court noted that people’s feelings had been hurt by his speech.
Therefore, Kamal Haasan should apologize for his statement to ensure a smooth release of Thug Life and resolve the issue.

Following the Karnataka High Court’s comments, Kamal Haasan has now written a letter to the president of KFCC.
In the letter, he mentioned, “It pains me that my statement at the Thug Life Audio Launch, which I spoke genuinely, has been misunderstood. There is no dispute about the rich legacy of Kannada. Like Tamil, Kannada has a proud literary and cultural tradition.”
However, with only one day left for the release of Thug Life, it remains to be seen whether Kamal Haasan will apologize for his statement and ensure the film’s smooth release in Karnataka, or if this issue will escalate further and Thug Life will be banned in Karnataka.
