The buzz around the tentatively titled KH×RK reunion project is growing fast. Featuring Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, the film has already grabbed attention with just a viral promo.
The makers are reportedly aiming for a massive OTT deal even before filming begins. This early push shows their confidence in the film’s scale and star power.
As per strong speculation, Red Giant Productions is trying to sell the OTT rights to Netflix for around ₹250 crores. However, Netflix is said to be cautious and has offered close to ₹110 crores.
Due to this gap, the production house is now exploring other OTT platforms. The aim is to lock a deal soon and secure a strong pre-release business.
At the same time, industry trackers in Kollywood are raising concerns. Many believe the OTT market has slowed down, making it difficult for big films to close high-value deals.
They point to Yash’s film Toxic as another example. Reports suggest its makers are asking for over ₹200 crores, but no platform is ready to meet that price.
Because of this, some claim that Toxic is facing delays despite being completed. This has added to the belief that even big projects may struggle in the current OTT market.
On the other hand, there is a positive example. Reports indicate that Jailer 2 has sold its OTT rights for around ₹160 crores.
Based on this, a few trade experts feel KH×RK could still land a strong deal. The presence of both Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth may boost its value.
