Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan was a dream movie of Kollywood, as many actors and directors, even legendary actor MGR, have tried to make the book Ponniyin Selvan into a movie, but after many years and so many struggles, finally, Mani Ratnam has done the dream movie of Kollywood and released it into a two-part movie. Ponniyin Selvan-1 was released in the year 2022, and Ponniyin Selvan 2 was released last year.
Ponniyin Selvan-1 has bagged 4 awards, which include Best Tamil Film of the Year 2022, A.R. Rahman bagged Best Music Director of the Year 2022 for his background scores in Ponniyin Selvan-1, Anand Krishnamoorthy won the Best Sound Design for this movie, and Ravi Varman bagged the Best Cinematographer for his camera work in this movie. On the other hand, Dhanush’s Thiruchitrambalam won two awards, including Nithya Menon for the Best Actress of the Year 2022 for this movie, and Jaani Master and Sathish Krishnan won the Best Choreography award for the Megham Karukadha song in this movie.
