Pradeep Ranganathan’s long-pending film Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), directed by Vignesh Shivan, is set for a worldwide theatrical release tomorrow. With only a few hours left, advance bookings have picked up pace, but the overall response remains underwhelming.
According to reports, LIK has recorded lower advance bookings compared to Pradeep Ranganathan’s previous films. The film has crossed around 1.5 crore in Tamil Nadu so far. This figure is seen as modest considering expectations.
In comparison, Dragon recorded final advance sales of 2.10 crore, while Dude reached 3.45 crore. Reports also suggest that in several B and C centres, even 10 tickets have not been booked for the first show of LIK.
Trade experts believe that multiple postponements have affected the film’s pre-release buzz. This delay is being seen as a key factor behind the slow booking trend. Some also point to Vignesh Shivan’s recent track record as a concern.
Pradeep Ranganathan has built a strong fan base with the success of Dragon and Dude. However, Vignesh Shivan has delivered only one major success with Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. This contrast may have influenced audience expectations.
With weak advance sales, LIK’s box office performance will depend heavily on word of mouth. Audience response after release will play a crucial role. It remains to be seen whether the film can exceed expectations and emerge as a surprise hit.
