
Mammootty’s Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, was released in theatres on January 23 and has received mixed responses from audiences.
According to box office analysts, the film has collected only 11 crores in its opening weekend. With these figures, Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse is being considered a flop venture in Kerala.

Many viewers commented that while the investigation scenes were well-crafted, the screenplay in the second half failed to meet expectations, leading to mixed reviews.
Interestingly, even the recently released Rekhachithram featuring Asif Ali grossed 15 crores in its first weekend which has emerged a good hit, and Tovino Thomas’s Identity managed 12 crores which will be an average affair, according to the trade.

In comparison, Mammootty’s film, despite having the Malayalam superstar and being helmed by acclaimed director Gautham Vasudev Menon, has delivered significantly weaker box office numbers.
Mammootty has been having a golden run with films like Bramayugam, Kaathal, Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, and Kannur Squad. He ended last year with a flop film called Turbo and started this year with Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse.

This marks a disappointing Malayalam debut for Gautham Vasudev Menon, adding to his recent string of underwhelming projects. With none of his recent films achieving success, the director seems in dire need of a strong comeback.
