To this, Mani Ratnam replied that making even a single film is difficult for him, so he hasn’t even considered the concept of creating a universe, and that Lokesh Kanagaraj is the right person to build a universe. This statement has now gone viral.
Following this, some netizens on social media responded that if Mani Ratnam had created a cinematic universe with his popular characters, it would have been one of the biggest ever in Indian cinema and might have set a new benchmark for collections. However, it seems he is unwilling to do so.
