After the disaster of Salman Khan’s Sikandar, director A. R. Murugadoss is gearing up for a comeback with Madharaasi starring Sivakarthikeyan. The film is set for a worldwide theatrical release on September 5, and promotions are now in full swing.
As part of promotions, Murugadoss has been giving interviews to popular YouTube channels. However, his recent comments have sparked controversy, with remarks such as Salman Khan always arriving late on the sets of Sikandar and ₹1000-crore directors being “just entertainers.”
These statements triggered a backlash on social media. Salman Khan fans are slamming Murugadoss, while some in the Tamil film audience also criticised him for making immature comments at a crucial time before Madharaasi’s release.
Observers say Murugadoss is facing more negativity now than during the failure of Sikandar. Many feel that his choice of words during interviews has worsened his image, leading to a flood of criticism even before the film hits the screens.
With his last few movies turning out to be big flops, Murugadoss is under immense pressure to deliver a hit. All eyes are now on Madharaasi, which could decide whether he stages a solid comeback or continues his losing streak.
