Malayalam film Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, starring Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles and directed by Girish A D was released in theatres yesterday (August 21st) and has received super positive responses from audiences and critics.
Since its announcement, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has had huge expectations among the audience, as Mamitha Baiju and director Girish A D have collaborated for this film after the huge success of Premalu and also because Nivin Pauly’s last film, Sarvam Maya, was a huge success.
Consequently, after these super positive responses, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is now on a rampage at the box office. Many viewers, after watching Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, have responded that it is one of the best feel-good films released in Malayalam in recent times and that Girish A D has struck gold once again after Premalu.
For this Onam, two films were released in Malayalam such as Prithviraj’s Khalifa and Nivin Pauly’s Bethlehem Kudumba Unit. While earlier many people believed that Khalifa would dominate the Bethlehem Kudumba Unit in this Onam race, suggesting that Prithviraj is a bigger star compared to Nivin Pauly. However, the situation is unexpectedly now completely the opposite because Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is completely dominating Khalifa and many theatres that were allocated for Khalifa have now started replacing it with Bethlehem Kudumba Unit.
According to reports, ticket bookings are increasing show by show for Bethlehem Kudumba Unit and the film grossed more than 15.5 crores worldwide on its Day 1, whereas Prithviraj’s Khalifa grossed around 13.25 crores.
Even though the Day 1 collections were almost equal for both films, with a slight edge for Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, the Day 2 collections for Khalifa faced a huge dip, while Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’s Day 2 collections are expected to be higher than Day 1.
Additionally, since this morning, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has been trending on the BookMyShow ticket booking platform, with more than 15K tickets being booked per hour.
In response to Bethlehem Kudumba Unit’s dominance in the Onam race, many trade experts are suggesting that Nivin Pauly seems to have crushed Prithviraj in this Onam race and if this trend continues, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit will easily collect more than 200 crores in its final run.
Ultimately, it remains to be seen how Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is going to perform at the box office and whether it will become the highest-grossing film of Nivin Pauly’s career in the following days.
