Following the failure of Vijay’s Beast, Pooja Hegde returned with Suriya’s Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, which was released in theatres on May 1st and received mixed responses from audiences.
Many Kollywood audiences expected that Retro would become a blockbuster success, marking Suriya’s comeback and breaking Pooja Hegde’s failure streak. However, Retro ended up as a failure.

After Retro, Pooja Hegde has done an item number in Rajinikanth’s Coolie and is acting as the female lead in two projects: Vijay’s Jana Nayagan and Raghava Lawrence’s Kanchana 4.
For the past few years, not a single movie of Pooja Hegde has become a successful venture, resulting in seven consecutive failures, including Retro and Beast.

Now, Pooja Hegde is striving to deliver a successful film in Kollywood, and her two upcoming movies are promising and carry huge expectations, as the Kanchana franchise has a huge fan base, and Vijay’s Jana Nayagan is his last movie in his acting career before he enters full-time politics.
However, some trade experts are commenting that these two movies are the final hope for Pooja Hegde to become an established actress in Kollywood.
