Karthi‘s long-pending sequel Sardar 2 directed by PS Mithran, has finally secured its release date and the makers have officially confirmed it with a special poster, announcing that the film will be released on September 10.
Since Sardar was a huge blockbuster success, Sardar 2 has carried massive expectations among audiences since its announcement. Although the shooting of this film was completed last year, the release of the film was put on hold due to some financial issues. However, it is now all set to hit the screens in September.
Meanwhile, after Sardar 2’s release date announcement, it is now almost confirmed that Rajinikanth’s anticipated Jailer 2 is not going to release in the first half of September.
This is because there has been strong speculation for the last few days that Jailer 2 might be released in September. Since September doesn’t have any long festival weekends and Sardar 2 has secured the only potential release slot of the month, Jailer 2 now has no chance of releasing in September.
On the other hand, the makers of Dhanush’s Om have also recently confirmed that the film will be released on October 16th as a Dussehra special. With Sardar 2 and Om utilizing the potential release slots of September and October, Jailer 2 now has only the November Diwali release slot left.
Hence, many trackers on social media are now suggesting that if the Jailer 2 team wants to release the film this year, only the Diwali release slot is left. If they are not able to cash in on the Diwali release slot, then the film will only be released at the beginning of next year.
Therefore, it remains to be seen whether Jailer 2 will be released this Diwali or if it will be postponed to next year without getting a proper release window.
