Following the back to back commercial success of Karuppu and Vishwanath and Sons, actor Suriya is currently awaiting the release of his next film Scene directed by Jithu Madhavan, which is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 6th as a Diwali special.
Since Scene is Jithu Madhavan’s immediate next film after the massive success of Aavesham, it has carried huge expectations among audiences ever since its announcement.
As everyone knows, Malayalam actor Naslen is making his Kollywood debut with this film and actress Nazriya plays a crucial role.
A few weeks ago, the highly anticipated teaser for the film was dropped and became a viral hit. While Kollywood audiences are eagerly waiting to know about Naslen’s characterization in the film, director Jithu Madhavan did not reveal anything about him in the teaser and is still keeping it a surprise.
Initially, strong speculation suggested that Naslen appears as a detective who travels alongside Suriya to solve an important case. However, it seems earlier rumors were untrue and Naslen might actually be playing a serial killer in the film.
According to fresh reports, the story of Scene revolves around a blind cop solving a serial killer case, with Suriya playing the blind cop and Naslen playing the serial killer antagonist.
In response to this speculation, many fans were both shocked and excited. While some people feel that seems like Naslen has done an out of box role in Scene and believe that it would be a solid debut for the actor in Kollywood, others feel the opposite.
They claim that due to his previous films, audiences strongly associate Naslen with a boy next door image. Hence, casting him as an antagonist and that too as a serial killer, feels like a risky decision that could easily misfire, as audiences may find it difficult to accept him as a villain. Therefore, they worry the Scene team might have made a blunder, turning Naslen’s Kollywood debut into a risky gamble.
Ultimately, no official source has confirmed this speculation yet. It remains to be seen whether Naslen really plays a serial killer in Scene and whether the film will become a blockbuster success, helping Naslen to make an impactful debut in Kollywood, upon its release on November 6th.
