Sivakarthikeyan’s much-awaited film Madharaasi, directed by AR Murugadoss, is set for a worldwide theatrical release on September 5. With only a few days left, the team is busy promoting the movie through several events.
Reports confirm that Madharaasi has been censored and granted a U/A certificate by the CBFC. The official censorship certificate, which recently surfaced on social media, also reveals that the film’s runtime is 2 hours and 47 minutes.
After the trailer release, some social media users speculated that the film might get an A certificate from the CBFC, as certain scenes are set in a harbor. This expectation grew stronger with rumours that Rajinikanth’s Coolie had received an A certificate.
According to Kollywood circles, Coolie’s rating was assumed to be linked to harbor sequences. However, it was later suggested that the certificate could have been due to cremation scenes in the film. Now, with Madharaasi receiving a U/A certificate, those assumptions appear to be incorrect.
Following the certification update, Sivakarthikeyan’s fans expressed joy on social media. They recalled that two of his earlier U/A certified films, Doctor and Amaran, became massive blockbusters. This has raised hopes that Madharaasi will also follow the same path.
Whether Madharaasi will meet audience expectations and extend Sivakarthikeyan’s success streak will be known after its release on September 5.
