Vijay Sethupathi’s Ace, directed by Arumuga Kumar, was released in theaters today and is receiving mixed responses from audiences and critics.
After the blockbuster success of Maharaja and a critically acclaimed performance in Viduthalai 2, Vijay Sethupathi returned with a commercial entertainer, Ace.
While Ace had very low pre-release hype, its success depended mostly on positive word-of-mouth from the audiences.
Many viewers, after watching the movie, have commented that even though Ace has an engaging and good plot, the director failed in its execution.
Vijay Sethupathi, as usual, delivered his best, and the core idea of the movie was good, but some sequences in the second half felt flat.
Also, Kollywood audiences say that although Yogi Babu’s comedy portions worked well after many years, and Rukmini Vasanth’s acting performance was good, the team failed to present a gripping entertainer.
The Kollywood audiences expected the finest entertainer from Vijay Sethupathi, after Maharaja and Viduthalai 2, but seems like Ace is not up to the expectations.
Due to low pre-release hype, Ace started its theatrical run with an average opening, and it remains to be seen whether the collection picks up by the weekend and emerges as a successful movie for Vijay Sethupathi.
