Will Lokesh Kanagaraj Take the Disaster Feedback Seriously?

Rajinikanth’s most anticipated pan-Indian movie, Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is currently in the post-production stage and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14th.

Yesterday, Sun Pictures officially announced that the first single from this movie, Chikitu, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, will be released tomorrow in three languages such as Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.

In the Hindi announcement video of Chikitu, Coolie’s Hindi version was titled Majdoor, officially confirming that Coolie will be released in Hindi as Majdoor.

Following this, the Majdoor title became the talk of the town, as many Rajinikanth fans felt disappointed and responded on social media that the Majdoor title was terrible.

They expressed that despite being a big-budget movie and produced by a major production house, Sun Pictures wouldn’t even be able to release the movie with the same title in all languages, deeming it one of the worst decisions made by the production house.

Many pan-Indian movies have been released with their original titles in all languages, leading fans to question why it was so difficult to obtain the original title for Coolie.

They also pointed out that the North Indian audience already had a good buzz about the movie with its original title, and now the title change might affect that buzz.

To this, some trade experts clarified that if Sun Pictures went with the Coolie title, they might face copyright issues in Hindi, as three Hindi movies including a 1983 Amitabh Bachchan movie have already been released with the title Coolie.

However, some Rajinikanth fans are suggesting that they could have at least named the Hindi version as Rajinikanth’s Coolie.

It remains to be seen whether Lokesh will take feedback and revert to the universally recognized title Coolie or proceed with the negatively received Majdoor title for Coolie’s Hindi version.
