On Wednesday, China released its own operating system for the first time and now it may be a threat to Microsoft and Apple. This open-source OS is being designed and made to lessen the reliance on USA tech. They have named it OpenKylin and it is a start of a good future for Chinese OS.
The designed OS is based on the previously existing Open Source OS Linux. The program has been developed by a community of 4000 and this new operating system will be in the space program and major industries.
China has a massive market for tech and with a homegrown system like this, they can cause a big enough damage to the USA. As per the Chinese state media, the market has a worth of $2.1 Billion and in the future, there is no sign of declining.
China has been working to cut all ties off with the USA and if they are able to achieve independence in tech, it will not only make them billions, but it will also issue a global statement. Windows and MAC OS has been the global Operating system with no proper player in the market. If China can build something useful for the commoners, it won’t threaten their existence but will make them sweat a bit.
Now, whatever good the software might be, on the global stage people will be extremely skeptical to use it. China previously broke people’s trust with data breaches through their app and the new OS is not going to make a change to people’s perspective.
