Apple has started producing the iPhone 15 in India, particularly in the state of Tamil Nadu. The goal behind this decision is to lessen the gap between Apple’s manufacturing operations in India and its primary manufacturing hub in China.
A report from Bloomberg indicates that the production is taking place at Apple’s Foxconn Technology Group facility located in Sriperumbudur. The aim is to have these new iPhone models ready for customers shortly after they begin manufacturing at Apple’s main production plants in China.
This step is a part of Apple’s larger strategy to diversify its manufacturing sources and reduce its dependence on China. Over the course of several years, Apple plans to increase the number of iPhones manufactured in India.
This move not only helps Apple mitigate risks associated with relying heavily on a single manufacturing base but also aligns with its efforts to tap into India’s growing market and leverage the country’s skilled labor force.
