WhatsApp Is Testing Email Login

WhatsApp Testing Email

Meta and its biggest social media platform, WhatsApp, are bringing some changes to the masses. Now, it might shift from one of the primary features, as WhatsApp is allowing users to log in with their email ID.

WhatsApp is introducing a helpful feature. It’s not meant to replace the usual SMS verification, but rather acts as a backup option for users who can’t receive the 6-digit OTP via SMS.

This feature, called ‘Email Verification’, is now available on the beta version of WhatsApp for both Android and iOS. You can find it in a new section under ‘Account Settings’, where you’ll be able to link your WhatsApp account with an email address.

This might be helpful for a group of people who are logging in to a new device in a location with a bad network connection. It is also useful for a user who is not comfortable with switching a SIM card.

WhatsApp is trialing email verification and is expanding access to more beta testers. Initially limited, a wider release is expected. The Meta-owned platform continues to experiment with features including YouTube-like video controls, voice note and sticker sharing in Channels, multi-account support, and more.

This verification method will also be applicable for both Android and iOS. Although it’s currently in a very limited process, there are plans to expand its availability even further.
