IndiGo Crisis Aftermath: 10K Vouchers Roll Out

IndiGo flight cancellation compensation update

IndiGo has announced travel vouchers worth up to Rs 10,000 for passengers affected by the operational crisis in early December 2025. If you were impacted, this comes after months of cancellations that disrupted your travel plans and caused widespread inconvenience.

Over 2,000 flights cancelled in recent months

You may have already faced repeated cancellations, with more than 2,000 flights scrapped over the past few months. These cancellations left many passengers scrambling for alternatives, especially during peak travel periods.

Pilot duty rules triggered the disruption

The main reason behind the crisis was IndiGo’s failure to properly implement new pilot flight duty regulations. This internal lapse directly affected schedules and led to a breakdown in daily operations.

Ten days of chaos across major cities

The disruption lasted nearly 10 days and stranded thousands of passengers. You were most affected if you were travelling through major hubs like Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Delhi, where cancellations and delays piled up quickly.

Compensation linked to cancellation timing

IndiGo is now offering compensation between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 if your flight was cancelled within 24 hours of departure. This applies only to affected passengers during the disruption window.

Airline follows aviation regulator guidelines

With this move, IndiGo has aligned with guidelines issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The response comes after criticism over delayed accountability.

Voucher validity and usage details

The travel vouchers will remain valid for 12 months. You can redeem them on any IndiGo flight, giving flexibility if you plan future domestic or international travel with the airline.

How passengers will receive vouchers

IndiGo will start contacting passengers directly from December 26. If you booked through third-party platforms, you will receive details once the airline gets your contact information from those services.

Claim option for unreachable passengers

If the airline cannot reach you, a dedicated webpage will be launched in January to help you claim your voucher. This step aims to ensure no affected passenger is left out.

Disruptions reportedly still ongoing

While IndiGo has started corrective steps, reports suggest disruptions continue in several locations. You may still face operational issues until systems fully stabilise.
