IndiGo is struggling across airports in India after cancelling over 550 flights yesterday and more than 500 today. Passengers in several major cities faced delays and confusion.
Major airports hit with large cancellations
Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Goa saw heavy disruption. Hyderabad lost 92 flights and Bengaluru 102, while Delhi crossed 220 cancellations. Many passengers checked in only to learn their flight was cancelled, which led to stress and frustration.
Pilot shortage and new rest rules affect schedules
A shortage of pilots and crew is reported as the main reason. New rest regulations for pilots made schedule planning harder. Rebooking created long queues and ticket prices went up, adding to passenger discomfort.
Passenger frustration grows on ground
In one incident, a man complained that his daughter was bleeding and needed a sanitary pad but did not receive help. He shouted at staff in anger, though staying calm could have helped resolve the issue faster. Many passengers felt the airline failed to manage the crisis smoothly.
