A tragic incident has shaken the family of 27-year-old Amanpreet Kaur Saini, who had moved from Sangrur, Punjab, to Canada in search of a better future. Amanpreet was found murdered in Lincoln, Ontario. Her death has left her family in Sangrur devastated, grappling with grief and disbelief. The alleged killer has been identified as 27-year-old Manpreet Singh, and Canadian authorities have registered a homicide case against him.
Amanpreet’s father, Inderjit Singh, spoke to the media, describing his daughter as talented, hardworking, and cheerful. She had been employed at a hospital in Canada since 2021 and was on the verge of receiving her permanent resident status. According to her father, Amanpreet never shared any personal troubles with the family. She lived a happy and independent life, had even purchased a car through her hard work, and looked forward to a bright future.
The family revealed that Amanpreet was excited to visit India once she obtained her permanent residency. Her uncle said she was reported missing on October 20. Subsequent police investigations confirmed that she had been killed, and her body was recovered two days later.
The bereaved family has appealed to both the Punjab and Indian governments for assistance in bringing Amanpreet’s body back to India as quickly as possible. This will allow them to perform her final rites and seek justice. In addition, Amanpreet’s sister, Gursimran Kaur, has started a fundraiser to cover repatriation costs and provide financial support to the grieving family.
