When the country which claims to be the biggest superpower in the world holds a presidential debate, the world listens because these debates are going to give an insight into how the country may be governed in the coming years. So what do you expect to hear from the leaders of the United States who are contesting to become the President for the second time?
We might think that international relations would be a concern given the fragile condition of international politics. Or maybe the immigrant crisis which is taking a huge toll on the US cities. But when Biden and Trump went face to face in the first presidential debate, they had other things to discuss. And that included who’s in bed with whom.
When the President of a country’s concern is who the opposition leader is sleeping with, you can assume that all is not well with its democracy. Joe Biden was heard accusing Trump of having s*x with a pornstar which he refused. The level to which this election has stooped is beyond understanding.
That was not all, Biden also called Trump fat and they were arguing over who can play golf better. American democracy is in peril and its leaders are creating a mockery of it. At this moment it seems like instead of discussing important issues they just want to compete on who can function as an able bodied person.
If these are the best two the Americans can pick them there needs to be a serious introspection about the prevalent two party system in the country. There is no way America can’t produce better alternatives.
