TANA has been asked to submit all documents and Digital data to the court. For some time now, TANA was under focus.

It has been alleged that some techies, part of TANA, along with few other Telugu groups have been misusing funds. It is known that the Telugu community is one of the thriving communities in the US.

TANA is a major part of NRI lives and of late there have been allegations of embezzlement of funds by some of its members.

A couple of weeks back, in December 2024, a fresh case of misuse of funds surfaced. Treasurer of TANA Srikant Polavarapu had embezzled $4 million from the funds donated to TANA.

Srikant diverted the funds to his company Bruhath Technologies amounting to more than Rs 30 crore. While scam continued for two years, it came to light now shocking the donors of TANA.

Meanwhile Srikant resigned to his foundation trustee post and paid back $1 million dollars to TANA account. He said he would pay back the rest by Dec 15.

However, with Telugu NRIs are pressing for charges of financial fraud and a thorough enquiry into the matter as the issue stands as a black mark on the organisation.

Now the big debate is about who all were involved in the matter as many TANA members believe $ 4 million cannot be diverted by the signature of just one man.

Amidst pressure from members, the TANA Board has said it would take appropriate action to get back all of $4 million. In the process, the Board said it would take the help of FBI to set records straight.

Of late, the Telugu community has spread its wings far and wide and there have accusations of misuse of funds in service-oriented organisations like TANA.

The latest summons by the California Court are a step towards checking such dubious acts and providing a clean chit after court perusal so that Telugu NRIs don’t lose trust in organisations like TANA.
