All around the world, people come up with the most unique ways to protest against their governments. Earlier we saw how farmers in France dumped manure in government buildings to register their protest. This time it’s the farmers of Germany who are in the news for their protest against the German government.
Thousands of German farmers are protesting against some proposed cuts in the agriculture budget of the country. These cuts are going to affect the farmers significantly and therefore thousands of farmers are on the street against the step.
These farmers are driving their tractors all the way to Berlin to register their protest in a peaceful manner. This has caused a total blockade of the road leading to the iconic Brandenburg Gate.
The government is trying to abolish the subsidies that were given to the farmers like tax cuts on diesel and road tax exemption for farming vehicles. A part of the coalition government is against the proposed changes and is in solidarity with the protest.
Similar protests were seen in India when the farmers were raising their voice against the new farm bills. Long stretches of highway were occupied by tractors.
