Road rage includes dangerous driving behaviors, from cutting off other drivers to using a vehicle as a weapon and even gun firings.
Statistics show Texas, Florida, and California have the highest number of road rage incidents involving guns, while New Mexico, Tennessee, and Wisconsin have the highest rate per 1 million residents.

A recent incident in Indiana highlights the ongoing issue. Gavin Dasaur, a 29-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh’s Agra, was shot dead in a suspected road rage incident.
Gavin, recently married on June 29, was returning home with his Mexican wife when an argument at an intersection turned deadly.

A viral video shows Gavin getting out of his car, yelling at the driver of a pickup truck, and punching the truck’s door with a gun in his hand. The truck driver then shot him.
The incident happened on July 16. Gavin ran a transport business in the US and married Viviana Zamora on June 29. On the evening of July 16, Gavin, his wife, and his sister Deepshi went to a mall.

While returning home, a pickup truck cut them off, causing their vehicle to veer off the road. Gavin chased the truck and stopped it, but the driver, laughing at Gavin, escalated the situation, according to his father, Pawan Dasaur. The pickup driver suddenly shot at Gavin, hitting him with three bullets.
Gavin was rushed to the hospital but died from his injuries. His widow recounted holding him as he bled out, waiting for the ambulance.
Police detained the truck driver, who claimed self-defense, and released him after consulting with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. Gavin’s family alleges lapses in the police investigation and seeks strict punishment for the accused and justice for Gavin.
Gavin’s mother, Dimple, was also in the US for the wedding, and his sister, Deepshi, works as a software engineer there. His final rites were conducted in the US.
Gavin had been living in the US since 2016. After completing a diploma in mechanical engineering in 2018, he started his own transport business.
His father alleges that his son’s murder was a result of road rage and that despite the assailant being present, the police did not arrest him. Gavin’s wife calls for a thorough investigation and demands the death penalty for the pickup truck driver.
Road rage shootings increased by 449 percent between 2014 and 2023, with 481 people shot in 2023, down from 543 in 2022. A total of 3,095 people were shot in road rage incidents from 2014 to 2023, with 777 of those killed. Cities like Houston, Milwaukee, San Antonio, Chicago, and Memphis saw the most road rage shootings over the past decade.
