The H1B lottery process has officially come to an end. The notifications have stopped, and the USCIS has confirmed that the FY2027 H1B initial registration selection process is complete.
Those who were selected and are eligible can begin filing their H1B petitions starting April 1, 2026.
This year also marked the conclusion of the weighted lottery system, making it the first cycle fully conducted under this format.
On the other side, social media is filled with grief and disappointment. Many applicants have shared emotional posts about not getting selected, especially those for whom this was the final attempt.
The wait this year has been particularly stressful, taking a heavy toll on mental health, as reflected in countless posts online. With limited slots and intense competition, heartbreak was inevitable.
For many, this was not just a result, it was a turning point. And for those who missed out, the disappointment is deep and very real.
One such heartbroken wrote on social media ““I don’t think I’ve ever cried like this before. I didn’t even know I was someone who could cry like this. What made it even harder was seeing my coworkers so genuinely upset, even crying for me. That honestly broke me.”
