Takeover is Near: Indian Entrepreneur Warns US

Indian brands going global isn’t new, but it is always reassuring to see a local name in a foreign store. A similar thing happened in the US when an Indian founder spotted a household brand on the market.

Ram Prasad took to X to share a picture of neatly stacked Amul Gold milk bottles at a Costco store in Texas. “Amul in Costco. The takeover is near,” he wrote in the post, sharing the joy with fellow Indians.

This is the result of Amul joining hands with the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) and announcing a partnership with US-based milk producers last year.

The Indian community on the internet had different reactions to hearing the news. While some were thrilled to see the local brand thrive, others questioned if the milk would be the same quality as the Indian one.

Prasad replied to some comments and clarified that it is imported from India, making it even more special. X users got greedy and quickly started demanding more Amul products in the US like butter and cheese.

It is evident that more than just a brand, Amul is nostalgia for many Indians. And with the Indian community growing strong in the US, they would be the most pleased if the aforementioned “takeover” does happen.
