We recently reported the shocking and disturbing tale of P Varun Raj, a 24-year-old Indian student studying in the US, which unfolded like a nightmare.
A promising Computer Science student hailing from Khammam, Telangana, Varun’s life took a tragic turn when he was viciously attacked in a public gym in Indiana. A fellow gym-goer, Jordan Andrade, stabbed Varun, leaving him fighting for his life.
After being rushed to the hospital, Varun’s condition was deemed critical, with a near-impossible survival rate due to the knife penetrating his brain stem. The doctors have reportedly given a zero to five percent chance of survival.
The horrifying incident has left the international student community in shock, as well as Varun’s family, who are demanding justice for their son.
Amidst this tragedy, Valparaiso University, where Varun was pursuing his studies, expressed their shock and sorrow over the incident. They pledged their full support to the ongoing investigation and are actively working to bring Varun’s family to the US.
The North American Telugu Society (NATS) initiated a fundraiser to cover Varun’s extensive medical expenses and the travel costs for his parents to be with him during this trying time.
While the attacker faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery, the Indian community, both in the US and abroad, rallies behind Varun, praying for his recovery and seeking justice.
