The US police officer who made insensitive comments and laughed on the death of a Telugu girl was fired.
In January 2023, 23-year-old Jaahnavi Kandula was killed in a road accident after getting hit by a police vehicle, driven by a Seattle Police Officer named Kevin Dave Auderer.
Auderer was driving at a speed of around 119 kmph at that time. Jaahnavi was thrown 100 metres away when she was struck by the vehicle.
Later, a video surfaced on social media where Auderer was seen making insensitive comments on Jaahnavi. “She had limited value..,” says Kevin in the video and laughs at Jaahnavi’s death for about 4-5 seconds.
The video went viral on social media and netizens demanded the police department to punish Auderer for his punishment and passing insensitive comments on a death. However, after all these days, the US police department fired Kevin and released a statement about the same.
Seattle Police department’s Interim Chief Sue Rahr stated that affect of Auderer’s comments on the Kandula family cannot be erased. He said that Auderer was a disgrace to the Seattle Police department and also made life difficult to the other police officials.
