
Aha has announced that it will be bringing a vertical web series now and it will have brief episodes of about two or three minutes each. While some people are excited about it and think it to be an innovative idea, others are concerned whether this is a perversion of long-format storytelling in depth.
Instagram is dictating the new age storytelling now and we have seen how the choreography in recent songs have been changed to be suited to the vertical screen of Insta reels. Even filmmakers like Shankar have admitted to shooting their films keeping the Instagram aspect of promotion in mind.

The short attention span of the new generation of audiences is compelling filmmakers to compromise with the integrity of their style, and cinephiles are not very happy with it.
The Aha show is titled ‘Apsara’ and with short episodes of two three minutes, it will be like a chain of instagram reels, something we have already seen. Many instagram creators have had some success in creating short meaningful stories through reels in installment.

Web series are meant for character development, depth and intensity and these things can be missed out with these reel-like shows. But there is plenty of room for innovation as well. And we will have to wait to watch if Apsara can mark the beginning of a new kind of storytelling style or not.
