
The Be Happy trailer is out and it’s already winning hearts! Starring Abhishek Bachchan as a single father supporting his daughter’s dance dreams, the film looks like a emotional rollercoaster.
But did you know this film has a long history? It was once planned as Dancing Dad with Salman Khan. So, how did it go from a Salman-starrer to an Abhishek-led OTT release?

In 2017, Remo D’Souza had Dancing Dad lined up with Salman Khan. A dance-based emotional drama, it was supposed to showcase Salman as a doting father.
But before it could take off, Salman asked Remo to direct Race 3 instead. The result? A critically panned film and a quiet fallout between the two. Dancing Dad was shelved and the concept disappeared till now.

Fast forward to today and Be Happy is back with a new approach. The trailer shows Abhishek Bachchan in a sincere and emotional role and once again proves why he excels in these kind of characters.
His chemistry with child actor Inayat Verma is natural and the father-daughter bond takes center stage. Unlike Dancing Dad which could have been a big Bollywood extravaganza.

But would a big budget Salman-starrer on fatherhood and dance have worked in 2017?Or is Be Happy with its subtle and emotional storytelling more suited to today’s OTT-driven world?
