Ananya Panday in an Unbearable Comedy Series!

Call Me Bae

People are taking a dig at Ananya Pandey for her new series Call Me Bae, it’s trailer was released today. Many fans said that Ananya wouldn’t have to worry about her acting skills in this series as she is doing a role so similar to herself. Ananya seems ready for her OTT debut with this show produced by Karan Johar. The show will be released on Amazon Prime on 6 September. But it has already started getting backlash for simply being a copy of international series and many believe it’s a terrible attempt at comedy.

The show captures the life of a rich girl who is used to princess treatment. After losing all her riches she has to pave her own way in a world she is not accustomed to. Ananya is seen in a comic role but the trailer seems to lack depth. Many believe it does not explore much nuance and just attempts a surface level humour. Although the star cast includes Vir Das, Vihaan Samat, Lisa Mishra and Varoon Sood, the star power does not seem to add much to this show directed by Colin D’Cunha.

Much can not be decisively said before its release on 6 September. The early reception of trailers and marketing gimmicks have not been very positive. Ananya will soon be seen in a digitally generated film CTRL which is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. She seems to have kick started her OTT journey with these projects.
