Dhurandhar: Shocking Link with Pawan Kalyan’s Disaster

Dhurandhar is the film that helped Bollywood regain its confidence after SRK’s single handed domination in 2023. While movies like Chhaava and Saiyaara also became successful last year, the level of success achieved by Dhurandhar clearly stands much higher. The film created a massive impact at the box office by collecting close to Rs. 1250 crores. It also made headlines by becoming the highest grossing film ever in a single language.

The film dominated theatres for almost two months. Now, it has entered the OTT space. Netflix began streaming Dhurandhar from Thursday midnight, and almost immediately, the film started trending again on social media. Interestingly, along with Dhurandhar, another film, Pawan Kalyan’s Sardaar Gabbar Singh, also began trending once more. The reason behind this unexpected trend turned out to be music.

Dhurandhar’s title song is actually a remix of an old Hindi song. What surprised many people is that the same original song was already used nearly ten years ago in Sardaar Gabbar Singh. Fans may remember that just before the climax, the film features a song medley where Pawan Kalyan dances with a group of rowdies to several old songs from different languages. One of those Hindi songs later became the base for the Dhurandhar title track remix.

When Dhurandhar released in Hindi, the remixed song went viral again. This led Telugu audiences to reshare the original version from Sardaar Gabbar Singh on social media, bringing it back into discussion. Because of this musical connection, a film that was once seen as a box office disaster unexpectedly found itself trending again.

This also reopened conversations about Pawan Kalyan’s taste in music. From early in his career, he has shown a liking for remixing old songs and using Hindi tracks in interesting ways. Members of the Sardaar Gabbar Singh team had earlier revealed that the idea for the song medley came directly from Pawan himself.
