
Joker 2, titled “Joker: Folie à Deux,” has turned out to be an epic disaster at the box office, and it’s already set to release on digital platforms just 25 days after hitting theaters.
The movie has earned only $51.5 million in the U.S. and $165 million globally after two weeks, which is way less than what the first Joker which collected over $1 Billion at the global box office.

This time, the sequel is expected to make around $215 million in total, which is nowhere near enough to cover its costs.
The movie had a massive budget of $200 million to produce and another $100 million for marketing. To break even, it needed to make at least $450 million, but Warner Bros. now says it might need only $375 million.

Even so, the film is expected to lose between $125 million and $200 million. Critics and audiences didn’t like it either, giving it a poor 33% on Rotten Tomatoes and a “D” grade on CinemaScore.
One of the biggest problems was the direction the film took. Instead of the dark, chaotic supervillain story fans expected, the movie turned into a courtroom drama musical, which disappointed many. As a result, it struggled to keep audiences interested.

Joker 2 has been such a massive disaster at the box office that it’s already set to start streaming on OTT platforms just 25 days after its theatrical release.
Fans are now hoping that DC Comics and Warner Bros. will go back to making content that pleases the audience, rather than taking risky creative turns that don’t work out.
