Netflix has invested heavily in producing content specially created for its subscribers in India and it is finally paying off the streaming platform. India has become the second largest market for Netflix when it comes to new subscribers added in the June quarter. The release of new shows like Heeramandi and movies like Amar Singh Chamkila is considered to be the biggest reason behind it.
Netflix is having a good time when it comes to its subscribers base. The company added 8.05 million subscribers in this quarter worldwide and a big chunk of it came from India. The Asia Pacific region is the biggest market for Netflix in terms of new subscribers.
The region alone contributed 2.83 million new subscribers this quarter. India is the biggest market in this region and one of the reasons why the company saw a significant rise in the number of subscribers.
Netflix has said that Heeramandi emerged as the biggest show on the platform drawing more than 15 million views. On the other hand Amar Singh Chamkila has been the most successful Indian film drawing 8.3 million views in the quarter.
