Sequels have been working wonders at the box office of late. But the same can’t be said about all films as the recent example of Indian 2 is a case of extreme disappointment. The film was a mega disaster at the box office.
To make matters worse, Shankar and Kamal have already announced Indian 3 which commenced production already and a portion was shot.
The latest update on social media is that Indian 3 might well skip theatrical release and arrive directly on OTT. This is in view of the rock bottom buzz one the film considering the disastrous second part which later became troll material.
With so much going against Indian 3, there’s no point in the theatrical release, unless of course the makers decide to risk it.
Going by the social media reports and the imminent situation, Indian 3 might well be heading for direct to OTT release.
While it is indeed problematic that a Rs 100 crore production film is arriving directly on OTT, this is the price that is having to be paid for a poor sequel.
