Kill is finally released in the Indian theatres today after making it big internationally. It was highly acclaimed at the Toronto International Film Festival and was later secured for an English remake by Lionsgate and Chad Stahelski’s 87Eleven.
The director of this train shot hand-to-hand action film recently shared the inspiration behind this film. Nikhil Bhat’s super violent Kill has a chilling incident behind it! When Nikhil Bhat was still a young student he was traveling from Patna to Pune, and on the way a horrendous robbery took place. Many were left injured, there was bloodshed and people were traumatized on the train. Bhat remembers waking up to a terrible scene. The train was surrounded by police and people around him were stunned. He did not witness any of the violence directly but being on the train left a significant impact on him.
He had this incident in mind while the film was being made. Isn’t it stellar to re-imagine a terrible train robbery into an action-packed thriller? The film features fresh faces like Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, and Tanya Maniktala in lead roles. It is released today and we are yet to see how it performs at the box office. But one thing is for sure, if the action hero of this film were on the train on which director Bhat travelled years ago, the bad guys would have a really miserable fate.
