JioCinema Snatches Bobby Deol’s Next From Netflix India

In the unpredictable realm of the OTT industry, another unexpected move has been made which sees the resurgence of Abbas-Mustan’s OTT debut, “Penthouse”. The superstar duo is expected to come back all guns blazing with this surprising piece of theirs.

The movie was first revealed in 2021 as a Netflix original but as it turned out, it was not just heads that were rolling at Netflix as projects that didn’t inspire the confidence of the head honchos were being axed and so was the case with ‘Penthouse’ which the bosses at the streaming platform felt did not meet their international standards, thereby calling it off on July 2022.

Similar to Abbas-Mustan’s movies, the real-life story of the Bobby Deol starrer is also full of twists and turns as the movie is now probably going to make its arrival on Jio Cinema! According to the reports, the producers are in talks with the newly emerging digital giant as upon being asked about the possibility, the producers replied saying that they have delivered the final product to the producers.

This means that the producers have now reclaimed the rights from Netflix and the fate of the film now rests in the hands of Jio Cinema.

Starring big names like Bobby Deol, Mouni Roy, and Cyrus Broacha, Penthouse is a remake of the Belgian film ‘Loft’ which was released in 2008.

The plot features a group of five married men who lived together in a penthouse in the same city where they had affairs. However, a debauchery-filled gathering for five friends turns into a test of friendship and a web of suspicion when a dead body is found in their rented home.

It will be exciting to see how the critically acclaimed pair puts together the project in an Indian setting and whether they still possess the sharp edge of theirs they’re known far and wide for.
