Disaster Spills Over to OTT for Kothapallilo Okappudu

Kothapallilo Okappudu OTT release flop

Kothapallilo Okappudu, released in theatres on July 18, 2025, has seen its failure extend to OTT as well. Backed by Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media and directed by producer-turned-filmmaker Praveena Paruchuri, the rural drama began streaming on Aha this Thursday night. Sadly, the response has been poor.

Praveena tried to add an indie touch with quirky elements in the first half, but most of it felt dull and lifeless. Many viewers are turning it off within 40 minutes, unable to sit through the slow pace and lack of emotion. What was intended as a Krishna Vamsi-style narrative ends up hollow and unconvincing.

Even with Rana Daggubati’s support and Praveena’s credibility from producing C/O Kancharapalem, the film misses the mark. Except for Ravindra Vijay’s sincere performance, there is little to appreciate. The box office flop has now carried forward to OTT, where even Aha subscribers show little interest.

The silence on social media makes its rejection more evident. Hardly anyone is discussing the film after its OTT arrival. For Aha, picking such rejected titles risks disappointing subscribers and affecting renewals. In the end, Kothapallilo Okappudu has turned into a misfire that neither theatre audiences nor OTT viewers care about.
