The Tamil web series #Love starring Arjun Das and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead roles and directed by Balaji Mohan started streaming on the Netflix OTT platform on October 2nd.
Since director Balaji Mohan’s previous films and series in the rom-com genre were huge successes, many people expected that #Love would also be a good web series.
However, #Love is surprisingly receiving mixed responses from audiences and critics. Many viewers, after watching the series, have suggested that #Love is just a mediocre show about modern relationships and claimed that most of the scenes fell flat.
They noted that even though the plot of #Love is unique with an interesting setup, the stretched narration makes the series feel dragged out in many parts. Viewers also claimed that if director Balaji Mohan had designed this script as a film, it would have worked much better.
Even though both lead actors, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Arjun Das, played their parts well, critics say the predictable screenplay caused #Love to end up as a below-average series.
Netflix, with the intention of expanding its South Indian market, announced seven original movies and series in Tamil and Telugu. So far, two Tamil original films Stephen and Made in Korea, and two web series, with the recently released #Love and the Telugu web series Super Subbu have been released.
Shockingly, all four original releases failed and none of them delivered the expected results for the platform. Hence, it remains to be seen how the remaining three original shows will take shape and whether at least the remaining series will emerge as a success upon their release.
