Netflix has built its trusted user base over the years and has given audiences wonderful movies and shows. But users say that in bringing more popular content to the platform, the quality is being compromised.
People use the word ‘cringe’ to describe the content slate that Netflix is bringing up. After CID, now Crime Patrol is also streaming on Netflix. These are Sony shows and not Netflix originals.
And there have been multiple changes in the shows (like ACP Pradyuman leaving CID) that have made them a lot less interesting. Crime Patrol has already been accused of being ‘cringy’ by woke audiences.
People are also adding content like The Kapil Sharma Show and Pushpa 2 to the list. These movies and shows do not cater to the cinephile audience but to the masses. But people think that recently, the mass content slate is outnumbering ‘good, well executed’ stories with a large count.
The trust that Netflix has created among subscribers is due to the extraordinary stories it has provided, and more than any other platforms. It will have to reconsider the stories it is bringing to the table, otherwise, it can create a major change in the user base also.
