Zee5 has been releasing a lot of web series for the last few years. However, a handful of them have grabbed the attention of the public and the platform is still struggling to take a position similar to Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, or Disney+ Hotstar.
In between all these, Zee 5 has announced a new show today, titled Murshid. While detailed information on the series is currently awaited, it is reportedly going to be a gangster drama and the official poster has also hinted towards the same.
The new glimpse features veteran actor Kay Kay Menon with a gun in his hand alongside Tanuj Virwani with an intense look on his face. The former has already impressed the audiences by playing different kinds of roles and the latter accumulated a huge fanbase with his appearance as Vayu Raghavan in Inside Edge.
Murshid will premiere on August 30, 2024, and the basic premise will reportedly focus on the life of a gangster who intends to rule over Mumbai. Zakir Hussain would portray an important role along with Anang Desai and Jameel Chaudhary.
Considering the reports about the plot, it is evident that there won’t be anything new. We have been watching similar stories about a powerful character dreaming to rule the world. Director Milan Luthria also made a show last year with a similar premise, titled Sultan of Delhi.
But these kinds of shows still have a lot of public demand considering that a majority of them love to see action and thrill. Another section would binge-watch the show for the performances of the lead cast members.
On the other hand, the makers are possibly not worried because the show would directly arrive on OTT and there is no pressure to pull audiences to buy a ticket. Meanwhile, the fate of the show will be decided after its premiere and nothing can be said with conviction for now.
