Netflix has announced the second season of its survival thriller drama ‘Kaala Paani’. Described as “well-acted and intriguing”, the series has been one of the biggest success stories for Netflix India in 2023.
Released on October 18th, ‘Kaala Paani’ is set in the picturesque Andaman and Nicobar Islands, evoking the historical significance of the infamous cellular jail in Port Blair, known as ‘Kaala Paani,’ from the pre-Independence era.
The narrative revolves around the outbreak of a mysterious and deadly health epidemic on the islands, creating an atmosphere of chaos and fear. The season starred Mona Singh, Ashutosh Gowariker, Amey Wagh, Sukant Goel, Vikas Kumar, Arushi Sharma, Radhika Mehrotra, Chinmay Mandlekar, and Poornima Indrajith, among others.
The season woke up to positive reviews and immense success as it made its way to a position on Netflix’s Top 10 Global Non-English TV list and was trending across 11 countries within the first week of its release.
This success has made the makers announce the second season which comes up with tons of expectations owing to the outstanding performance the crew delivered in the initial season. Sharing the video on social platform, ‘X’; Netflix wrote, “The dark waters are ready to take over once again! Kaala Paani Season 2 Coming Soon, only on Netflix!”
Fans showed their excitement by visiting the comment section and thanking Netflix. One user wrote, “One of the best shows on Netflix. Eagerly waiting for next season” while others showered their love by spamming heart emojis. The show holds an aggregate rating of 86 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes and we hope that the second season will witness success on an even bigger scale.
