Netflix’s Lazy Attempt To Woo South India!

Netflix

Throughout Netflix’s production history, they have always been negligent regarding the southern part of India. Even if you refer to the Netflix Original content in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, or Kannada, the number seems negligible compared to Hindi content.

Netflix’s negligence isn’t just limited to the production part but is also reflected in the advertisement aspect.

“The Railway Men” is one of the most anticipated series in recent times, focusing on the Bhopal Gas Tragedy of 1984. The final trailer of the series looked great, but it was only in Hindi. Things would have been fine, but Netflix, with its recent action, made the whole situation worse.

Today, Netflix dropped two trailers of the same series but in Tamil and Telugu. On a superficial level, this might look like a very inclusive step as Netflix targets southern fans.

Ironically, the series is set to release on 18th November, and releasing trailers a couple of days before the release seems like a cheap tactic from the house of Netflix.

The Hindi trailer itself was released 10 days ago, and if they had an inclusive strategy in mind, they could have released it simultaneously with the Hindi one.

With this act, Netflix continues with its snobbish attitude regarding people from the south. Fewer series, less advertisement, and less attention—that’s the new slogan of Netflix India.
