
From Ishaan Khatter’s non-existent shirt to Bhumi Pednekar’s almost forced acting, fans on the internet are brutally trolling this new show for promising but not delivering.
The audience is left wondering how so much talent can go so untapped in the presence of stars like Zeenat Aman, Sakshi Tanwar, Vihaan Samat, Milind Soman, Chunky Panday, and other up-and-coming actors who all seemed equally promising.

The Royals is a rom-com about a prince (Ishaan Khatter) and a tech start-up entrepreneur (Bhumi Pednekar) and how their worlds collide as they fall in love.
On social media the reactions about the chemistry between these two are mixed.

Many seem to enjoy the intimacy between these two and the masala-drenched grandeur; others, not so much.
In almost every review, the creators were called out for the overdone cliches and mediocre chemistry, with a YouTube reviewer even claiming how he felt that there was more happening between Ishaan’s character and his horse than anybody else on the show.

Others have complained about how Bhumi, who is capable of much more nuanced performances, alternates between a tough businesswoman and a naive mess according to the requirements of the story.
The production design doesn’t cut any corners. Palaces shine, and the wardrobe feels like a fashion editorial (even for breakfast), but owing to its own excess, the show feels like all style and no soul.
The appeal to modernity is evident with the queer characters, women-led businesses, and influencer culture, but they are more checklist items than deliberate inclusions.
Netflix has yet again overpromised and underdelivered on what could have been a bingeable rom-com, but unfortunately this show will be added to another of its failed attempts.
